MAR/30 2009 department of transport client: mamemo productions Sam Katiela and his mamemo productions team created a new idea for an event for the Department of Transport in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The entire event showcased the future plans for an entire integrated transport system for the emirate, the so called Surface Transport Master Plan. Instead of building a physical model to show the routes and lines of the different transport modes and their interconnection, mamemo productions came up with the brilliant idea of the "digital model". On a 5m x 6m LED screen that was tilted by 30 degrees to guarantee the best visibility, all aspects of the future transport plan could be shown in the desired detail. The presentation of the digital model, which was designed by stereolize, could be navigated through an extra touch screen with a navigation menu that allowed the user to navigate to and from any point within the presentation. Before getting all the information of the digital model, a great teaser installation for which we also created the designs and content, left visitors of the event breathless and triggered greater interest for more information on the transport plan. On the so called Holo Deck, a 14m x 14m projection box that had 360 degrees seamless projection on all four sides of the room and also the floor, the visitors were taken on a journey through the different aspects of transport and their emirate.
